"Isle of the Dead"

Arnold Böcklin's "Isle of the Dead" is a much copied painting, inspiring many artists to make their own rendition. I too thought it a good idea to follow in the footsteps of the masters. I tried some different approaches with technique and am quite happy with the results.

This is also my first painting that I completed in my European studio. As fate would have it, the purchaser was Australian and took it home to Sydney.
